TRANSCRIPT: for now, the news continues at construction on a six story building slated to house a us bank branch and residential housing isunderway downtown. 13s sylvia petty spoke with business owners about operating in the midst of the construction... and what the new development may mean to downtown topeka development the business owners we talked to are right next to the construction and arent as upset about it as some might assume. with a giant hole and crane blocking off car traffic and parking spots right in front of their business as the holiday shopping season gets underway... youd think connie cook and brenda price owners of marion lane candles and absolute design by brenda, would be upset. well, youre wrong. ... .. ... connie says shes known for about two years now that construction on a sixstory building in the 700 block of south kansas would be taking place next door. ... just a couple doors down sits the kansan grill restaurant. wade schauers sells food to the restaurant once a week. but during construction he wont be able to park right in front of the building as usual. .... but restaurant manager sheila guiterrez says with the crane out front drawing attention, the restaurant doesnt need more specials or coupons to keep diners coming in. when people see the construction, they see the restaurant, so its actually kind of been a positive thing for us. both businesses appear willing to deal with the shortterm hassle for the potential longterm nefits the project may bring. .... .... sylvia petty... 13 news. an update on the topeka police departments
